Which weather data sources do you use?

Sail Routing relies on recognized weather data sources to provide accurate and up-to-date forecasts:

  • Wind: Data comes from the GFS (Global Forecast System) model, a global weather forecasting model updated every 6 hours with a resolution of 0.25°, providing detailed information on wind direction and speed.

  • Marine Currents: Information is sourced from the Copernicus Marine Service, which provides daily updated oceanographic forecasts. This European service offers reliable data on marine currents, essential for optimal route planning.

By combining these data sources, Sail Routing can propose optimized routes that consider the latest meteorological and oceanic conditions.
